Two (Tasteful) Outfits Perfect For Any Bachelorette Party

Apr 18, 2019

what to wear to a bachelorette party - black jumpsuit

Bachelorette party season is heating up, my friends! Andddd what can be more headache inducing than shopping for a bachelorette party that is both adorable and fun yet…age appropriate? ?

(If you’ve been following this blog for awhile, you’ll remember the term I refer to fondly as “sausage dress”–you know, the tiny casing of a dress you stuffed your little 22 year old self into the first time you went to Vegas? Same dresses I used to wiggle myself into for New Years Eve. Yeah. Sausage dresses. They don’t fly in my closet anymore.)

Thus–you’ll be seeing no sausage dresses today. Phew. Instead, I’ll be showing you two great little black one-piece numbers that are sexy, bacheloretty-yet, quite tasteful. (You’ll even want to wear them when you AREN’T on a bachelorette party!)

Also–you’ll never guess where they’re from: express!! (This is my first time partnering with them, but I’ve been eyeing what they’ve been doing for awhile now!) Yep. They have some *prettyyyyy* dang cute [affordable!] stuff, and as luck would have it–a lot of options for that one occasion that makes us all wring our hands when it comes to shopping: bachelorettes!

First up…some I would highly recommend looking for when shopping for a bachelorette outfit:

1. A dark color

I know hot pink is fun and all, but half the time you’re probably going to be asked to wear black anyway (because, you know, that’s what you do at bachelorette parties apparently) so you may as well get ahead of the game. Black isn’t just the most flattering color, but it also disguises spilled red wine, neon colored jello shots, and anything else the bride is probably going to spill on you. ?

2. A romper or jumpsuit:

(Typing this and mentally thinking to myself…”this post is probably going to reveal a lot about my friends” ?…)

I know I don’t speak for everyone here, but a LOT of my friends are goofy, silly, and wild. (Not REMOTELY in the “college spring break” kind of way–but in a weird “let’s start a limbo train/invisible jump rope competition/conduct a worm dance-off in the middle of the dance floor” kind of way). So–dresses are never actually the *best* idea because they come associated with a lot of inevitable wardrobe malfunctions that don’t lend themselves well to shenanigans. (As you can imagine.) Rompers and jumpsuits are far better ideas because they keep the Marilyn Monroe opportunities to a minimum. Granted, if those aren’t your thing, express has tons of other adorable items that would be perfect for the occasion as well!

That being said–I present to you the two ensembles that meet my stringent requirements:

The black sweetheart jumpsuit: $52.80 on sale from Express

The black sweetheart jumpsuit: $52.80 on sale!

The black sweetheart jumpsuit: $52.80 on sale!

I love this jumpsuit. Conservative yet still perfect for an occasion such as a bachelorette. You can dress it up with strappy heels and a dark red lip for somewhere like Vegas or Miami, or you can pair it with some flat sandals, beach waves, and a jean jacket or leather jacket for a laid-back casual vibe.

Note: I think it runs TTS, but I do think it’s better for those with average to shorter torsos! I’m also 5’6 for height reference!

The wrap skort romper: $35.94 on sale!!

To show a little more skin (tastefully!) this little faux wrap dress (it’s actually a romper) is PERFECT–especially for hot weather! It’s really cool and the fabric is loose and flowy. Wear it with stilettos for a night on the town, with more casual espadrille wedges or flat sandals and a jean jacket for a more casual night out. You can’t go wrong with this one!

Sizing: TTS, if not a teensy bit loose (but I prefer it that way to balance out the short hemline). I ordered an XS.

What to wear to a bachelorette party–accessories:

How CUTE is this leopard purse!?

Leopard purse:

How CUTE is this leopard purse!? I love that the chain strap is adjustable, so you can wear it as a cross-body (obviously essential for invisible jump-rope competitions) or you can wear it as a cute shoulder bag too! Huge plus: It takes up ZERO room in your suitcase! It also fits a surprising amount of stuff!

Statement Earring:

I went with emerald green statement earrings here–I admit, I’ve never considered wearing emerald green before, but Grace got me on the bandwagon–she wears it so often and it’s SO PRETTY! ??

express has the CUTEST affordable jewelry, and I never would’ve guessed to look there! A statement earring can take a look from boring to fun in about two seconds, so I’m always a big fan of them, especially for an occasion like a bachelorette party!

Which look is your favorite!?
