Welcome to Chicago, Warby Parker!

May 29, 2015

Glasses: c/o Warby Parker ‘Duval’ // Jacket: Old, but similar here and here // Dress: Equipment // Bag: c/o Vera Bradley // Shoes: c/o Nordstrom Rack // Bracelet: Shamelessly Sparkly // Necklaces: Helen Ficalora and Dogeared

As you may have seen on Instagram, I’m slightly ecstatic to welcome Warby Parker to their new home in Lincoln Park. After a year of a pop up studio, they’ve now moved down the street to open their permanent brick and mortar location, which I visited with Kelly a couple weeks ago.

Total confession: The last pair of glasses I got was in high school. They were always way out of my price range. If I was going to pay that much for one accessory, it was going to be a pair of damn Monolos–not a pair of glasses! So when I heard that Warby Parker frames were less than $100 (with the lenses!) I had to get in there ASAP!

We spent MUCH longer than expected in the new store–which is thoughtfully decorated with decor that pays homage to Chicago’s culture, and specifically, to the Lincoln Park area! The walls are customized with adorable maps of the different areas of Lincoln Park, and you can even pick up a custom map of the best places in the area to lay low, grab a cup of coffee, and read a book! (Also, if you’re wondering, these photos were taken with the in-store try-on frames with plastic lenses, the real ones don’t have a glare!)

With so many options, it took me about an hour to actually make a decision. The fun part is that they have a photo booth where you can take pictures of yourself in different pairs of glasses, to see which you like better! We had a little too much fun with it I think. (See below at our photo reel–even though I think I kind of look like the dad from The Wonder Years in the first one.)

Their staff was also super helpful and very honest but nice when I tried to pull off glasses that were way too hipster for me (oops). I finally decided to go with the Duvals in Whiskey Tortoise! (My second choice were the Durands, which is what Kelly ended up getting, go figure that we almost picked the same ones!)

If you want to pop in the store to shop for your own, you can either call your doctor and have them email you your prescription, or you can get an eye exam right in the Warby Parker store! Once I actually made a decision, it only took about 5 minutes to place my order, and I got my new glasses in the mail a week later!

If you don’t live near a Warby Parker location, you can arrange a home try on trial for free! You pick your favorite frames from the site, and they mail them to you to try on for yourself! They also carry really cute sunglasses for $95, or you can get prescription lenses for $125!

Plus, the cherry on top–for each pair of Warby Parker frames purchased, one pair is donated to a person in need. They’ve donated over a million pairs of glasses through their buy a pair, give a pair program. Shopping is always better when you’re helping others, right?

Have an amazing weekend, everyone!
