Dec 7, 2018

Sweater: c/o Evereve, (I also loveee this one and this pretty light pink cableknit cardigan that’s longer!) Leggings: SPANX c/o Evereve (similar here, and love this burgundy version!) Tank: Old, but I love this one layered under it too! Booties: Blondo (exact booties sold out, but similar here and here!), Bag: Madewell Transport Zipper Tote

Happy FRIDAY!

Woaaahhh the first full week of December is already gone. Did you have a good week? Neal got home last night from his business trip in time for us to do a little date night–that doesn’t happen that often, so it was the highlight of my week! We went to Twin Anchors–if you live in Chicago or are planning to visit–it’s a legendary Chicago rib spot that was frequented by Sinatra back in the day. It has a really cozy vibe and the food is fantastic! We have a stacked (but very fun) weekend ahead of us that we’re looking forward to full of catching up with friends and hanging out with family!

Anyway, on today’s post ?Today I’m sharing two awesome, cozy sweaters and two fun ways to wear them! Pretty much everything I’m wearing in this post is from Evereve–have you heard of them? They’ve got a couple stores in the Chicago area (but they’re nationwide and also online!) so last week I popped into their Southport store to check it out. If you’re someone who gets overwhelmed shopping in person, their staff is really friendly and will help style you!

Outfit #1: The Jazzed Up Grandpa Cardigan:

This first combination might be one of my favorites–I’ve been really loving how I’ve seen cardigans styled this year–buttoned all the way up the front, rather than left open. I’ve been searching for a cute one to add to my wardrobe and the second my hand brushed this one on the hanger, I was like a moth to a flame ?It’s SO. SOFT. And you know me and soft things. (Do we get more obsessed with soft things as we age? I don’t remember “soft” being one of my main requirements for wardrobe staples at age 22?) I also love the combination of textures it has going on between the ribbing and cableknit details.

Because, it’s me–you know I had to put my Juxtaposition rule into place at least once. (Alright, more than once.) Because this is a “grandpa” style sweater, I wanted to throw in a little bit of femininity and a bit of edge. (I mean, edge for me, which is like–daisies to anyone else, but–ya know.)

I layered a lace camisole underneath (it’s too low to wear with nothing under) and the peek a boo lace makes it a little bit feminine and a little bit sexy while still being casual. My camisole is a couple years old, but I tried it on with this one underneath in the store and loved the effect! Also, I paired it with leather leggings–these ones are new from my favorite brand, Spanx! I love the pebbled texture, and they’re a really dark grey instead of black for a softer effect. I love that they have a light control top, too–because, who doesn’t want that ?

Outfit #2: Dressy Casual Holiday Look

Sweater: c/o Evereve, runs TTS! Skirt: c/o BlankNYC c/o Evereve–runs TTS - OTK Boots: Stuart Weitzman

Sweater: c/o Evereve, runs TTS! Skirt: c/o BlankNYC c/o Evereve–runs TTS (this plaid mini would also look SO cute with this outfit, and if you want something dressier for a holiday party, this sequin pencil skirt is adorable!), OTK Boots: Stuart Weitzman (also love Blondo’s if you want a budget friendly version–they’re waterproof!) Earrings: Old, but these and these are similar!

On to our second sweater:

This pom pom crew neck that is perfect for any holiday occasion!

Dress it up or dress it down–it’s one you can wear often around the holidays but it’s not so “Christmassy” that you won’t wear it the rest of the winter. It’s a really pretty punchy orangey-red color, and the subtle pom poms (they’re not even like full pom poms–what do we call these?! ?) add so much personality to your outfit!

I snatched this skirt off the hanger so fast you wouldn’t believe–of course, when I looked at the brand, it was my favorite skirt brand–BlankNYC! (They also make my favorite suede jackets!) I really love the fact that it’s black coated denim. You get the look of a leather skirt, but it’s a little more approachable. (And not to mention, BREATHABLE.) It’s one I’ll wear all four seasons! (Maybe this needs to be in my next capsule wardrobe…?)

This look is a no-brainer to go with OTK boots, but you could easily pair this look with tights and heels to dress it up for a fancier occasion! Or, pair it with this sequined pencil skirt if you’re really feeling festive! To dress it down, pair it with these awesome jeans (I shared these on Instagram stories and you guys LOVED them!) If you’re looking for some super soft, stretchy, flattering mid-rise skinny jeans with raw hems, I can’t recommend these enough. And they’re $60!
