The Easy, Feminine Shirt Dress You’ll Want to Wear All Spring and Summer

Shirt dress: Madewell (supposed to be oversized so runs large! I’m wearing an XS but probably could’ve gone smaller!) I also love this chambray ruffled dress that is also super versatile for any kind of warmer weather (and even for fall, too, with boots!) Shoes: Everlane (go 1/2 size up! They just released SO many cute colors, too!) Would also look so cute with Soludos espadrilles or flats this summer! Chambray Button Down: J.Crew (runs TTS, but does run a little short–which is great if you always tuck in your shirts but if you prefer your shirts to be longer, Madewell makes a really similar one in a boyfriend cut!) Tote: Madewell Transport Tote (available at Nordstrom)Sunnies: Ray Ban (shop more Ray Bans here on Shopbop!) Lipstick: RMS beauty’s “RMS red” Hair & Makeup: See my everyday makeup tutorial here and my everyday hair tutorial here!

Hi guys!

I’m back in Chicago after my whirlwind trip–I’ve bounced between three different states over the last three days, haha, but it’s been worth it! I slept in late and took a slow day yesterday to catch up on sleep and run a bunch of errands to get organized post-travel craziness–it was much needed!

Because of the impending storm in NYC that hit on Wednesday AM, I changed my flight to get out early on Tuesday night and thankfully got home with no issues before the crazy weather started! I actually wouldn’t have even known about the storm that was coming if a few amazing readers hadn’t messaged me on Instagram and warned me to try and change my flight! I was so tired on Monday night that weather was the furthest thing on my mind–but how NICE are you guys for thinking of me!? Luckily American was allowing people to switch their tickets free of charge and because I jumped on it early, I was able to snag the last flight out on Tuesday night after my shoot!

Basically, I have the best online family ever and I am SO, SO lucky!! I love you guys!

Anywayyy. I’m sharing my last shoot from our Dallas trip a couple weeks back and this is one of my favorite outfits ever! When I saw this dress (15% off and free shipping right now! See Madewell.com for details–the offer is site-wide!) I knew it was going to be perfect for spring and summer, especially for travel because it’s super lightweight, breezy and looks just as cute with flat sandals or sneakers as it does with a pair of heels. (Yes, it does wrinkle in your suitcase, but I don’t go anywhere without my mini steamer and it de-wrinkles in about 30 seconds flat with that guy!)

I was running to a meeting right after we shot this, and it was perfect for the occasion paired with my Everlane Day Heels, which added a pop of color, and I love the shape of the shoes, with their slightly squared toes and chunky midi heel–they’re modern, yet sophisticated and polished, and super comfy. I’ve walked in them for miles at a time! They just came out with a bunch of new colors and I want ALL of them!

To make this jacket more casual and add another layer of visual interest, I like the option of tying my favorite chambray shirt around my waist–which also can be worn as a light jacket for an added layer of warmth if it’s chilly!

Other ways to style this dress: With a pair of espadrille wedges (I just got these Soludos and I’m in love) and a leather jacket–classic brown is always a great option, or play around with something lighter for spring, like this BB Dakota leather jacket (I have it in “parchment” but also love it in “bone”) or this Halogen faux leather jacket in a pretty light tan. It would also look adorable with these Steve Madden heeled sandals (I have them in a dusty blue suede, which I can’t find this season, but they come in every color! I love their nude suede and lavender suede! They’re surprisingly comfy for high heels!)

Hope you have an awesome Thursday!
