Classic & Casual for Spring

Mar 8, 2017

Scalloped Blue Sweater: Club Monaco (under $100!) also comes in a striped version, and the CUTEST version with an embroidered collar! Also can we talk about this cold shoulder sweater with bows!? // Jeans: Levi’s 721 jeans (On major sale for $39! I can’t find this exact wash anywhere online anymore but this pair is really similar, as is this slightly lower-rise, cropped version!) // Sneakers: Jack Purcell (also love this classic pair) // Sunnies: KREWE c/o Tuckernuck (also love this darker tortoise color)// Leather jacket: Old, but really similar versions here (my favorite!), here (this one’s 50% off!), and here (45% off!) // Bag: Vintage Louis Vuitton Speedy 25 bag–the best place to shop used/vintage designer bags is on The Real Real–they have quite a few right now in great condition starting at $500! (This one you can get 20% off right now with code PARIS–so you can snag an LV Speedy for $400! I love this bag and it’s been my everyday purse for years!) // Necklace: Helen Ficalora, but identical here for less! // Makeup: Burberry Fresh Glow foundation with Benefit pore minimizing primer, “Sheer Luminous” concealer (it’s the best one I’ve found for my under-eyes!) and Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid base (total splurge but I love this stuff!), “earthy” blush, lip contour + nude lip balm , Dior mascara.

We’re halfway through the week! Has it been a good one for you so far? Monday started off a little meh for me personally, but Tuesday definitely made up for it!

I took a morning yoga class instead of my regular nightly one–it helped SO much! It really started my day off on the right note. I also pushed myself to take a sculpt class (because…T-6 months till the wedding!) so I felt more accomplished than usual.

On my way home I grabbed lunch at Goddess and Grocer (one of my favorite hangouts) and caught up with my mom. I also stopped into David’s Tea on the way home–have you ever been there? OMG it’s such a geek-out fest for me. Neal makes fun of me and is always like “hereeee we go again”–he thinks it’s bizarre that I like to stop in and sniff all the teas. 😛

Two really great things I learned: Maté teas have a good amount of caffeine in them–comparable to coffee, sometimes more! I got one iced and it gave me so much energy but none of the jitters–it was amazing! I also got some vanilla matcha to take home–admittedly, I think matcha tastes like grass, but I was assured this was the “least grassy matcha with a hint of vanilla” so I figured–why not? I added it to my green smoothie this morning and it was GREAT! (Okay, still SLIGHTLY grassy, but nothing I couldn’t handle.) So basically I just combined caffeine and breakfast in one cup and I’m feeling pretty accomplished about it.

Anyway, we snapped these photos across the street from the hotel on our last day in LA–we stayed in Beverly Hills at the cutest hotel called The Crescent. If you’re headed to LA, I’d highly recommend this place. It was really affordable (probably because it doesn’t have a pool, but hey–I like more money in my wallet more than I like pools.)

After this we packed up the car and drove to Venice Beach to spend a couple hours before heading to the airport.

This adorable light springy sweater from Club Monaco was perfect for walking around LA. (It has tiny scallops on the neckline and sleeves!) I love that it’s really lightweight and versatile–you can also dress it up for work–and it’s only $89! It comes in a bunch of colors/varieties, too! I’m totally wearing it with white jeans and maybe these heels (do we like these?!) for Easter. It also looks adorable with my favorite blush oxfords from Everlane. You can make so many cute spring outfits with just this one sweater!

I’ve been shopping more and more at Club Monaco lately–I had always loved their clothing but remember their price points being a little out of my range, but recently I stopped in and discovered they have a lot of really great classic items under $200! They are one of my new go-to brands! (Also, their manager at the Bucktown location, Matt, is the best! If you stop in, tell him I say hi!) They offer free shipping on their site for orders over $150 and you can always find some really good stuff on sale.

My classic Levi jeans are one of the two pairs I reach for always (the others are the J.Brand Maria high-waisted skinny jeans which are super flattering!) Admittedly I cannot find this exact wash anywhere online anymore, but this pair is super similar! Levi’s are awesome–they’re really comfortable, classic and super affordable!

These Jack Purcell sneakers are also one of my favorite travel companions. Admittedly they did take a little bit to break in (you NEED these blister pads in your purse at all times for life in general, but they came in handy while breaking these in especially. I’ve tried pretty much every other brand and nothing compares to these!)

Also, despite being sneakers, they still look really classic and polished–which I love! If you’re worried about scuffing them or getting them dirty, just give them a once-over with Scotchgard. (It’s magical. I LOVE this stuff! I may or may not have sprayed it on my white pants too, haha!)

OKAY off to tackle the to-do list.

(By the way, Neal took these photos. How good is he getting? Love you babe!)
