It’s no secret that I love Parisian-inspired style. It’s simple, classic, feminine, and best of all–no fuss. Essentially, everything I strive for in a nutshell. Originally I thought this top paired with black pants would be too “Where’s Waldo” but throw on lace-up flats and a trench, and voila! (Literally.) It becomes French.

I wore this outfit out and about running errands in Lincoln Park with Blair before our trip to Iceland! (By the way, if you haven’t checked out my Blue Lagoon post, be sure to do so–more Iceland details coming soon.)

I spent my first three years in Chicago living in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Every time I’m there, I always forget how much I miss the charming tree lined streets with gorgeous walk-up town homes. Never mind that my first apartment was underneath the El tracks and would shake every time the train went by (I could actually hear the automated “doors closing” from my bed), but it was charming just the same.

We actually shot this a few blocks from that first apartment, on Armitage street, on my favorite strip of Lincoln Park. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, a few of my LP favorites include Art Effect, Lori’s Shoes, and Margaret O’Leary for shopping. For food and drinks, you can’t miss Pasta Palazzo, Annette’s Italian Ice, Blue Door Farm Stand, Summer HouseStella Barra, and of course–Kincades (a divey Irish Bar that always has great specials).

In other news, it’s been a busy week back in the U.S. and I’m still playing catch-up! Do you ever feel like no matter what you do you can never get everything done on your list? I’ve been experiencing a lot of that lately, and will admit I’ve been a bit too hard on myself over the past few weeks. Yesterday, reading Lauren’s post on “Ahimsa” really helped bring things back to perspective–I highly recommend giving it a read, especially for anyone who needs a reminder to be gentle to themselves. It also reminded me that I need to try harder to make it to yoga more often 😉 We all need to make time for ourselves, right? So try that for me today–despite your busy schedule, make sure to do at least one thing for yourself! (I’ll do too and let you know how it goes!)
