On a High Note Vol 51

Good morning and happy Monday!

How was your weekend? I took the majority of the weekend off of social media and enjoyed lots of time with friends, had a date night (went to a late dinner downtown for the first time in I don’t remember how long!) and got a lot of projects done around the house. How about you?

Let’s get it started On a High Note: our weekly Monday roundup series highlighting things that Kendall and I found inspiring, interesting, fun and/or helpful snippets and ideas to try, read, make, cook, drink, do, shop, and so on! Let’s go!

Women-Owned Sparkling Water Brand, Dram Apothecary

“A few days back, I shared my non-alcoholic spritz I’ve been enjoying lately, and mentioned I had picked up this new-to-me brand of sparkling water from a company called Dram–it was lightly flavored with lavender and lemon and was delightfully light and refreshing. (They also make CBD sparkling waters, bitters and more!) I received so many DM’s saying, “this brand is amazing! You have to read up on them!” and I did, and sure enough– you were right! I love that they are a woman-owned company and their products contain no additives of any kind, all made with local herbs from Colorado! If you’re local to Chicago, you can find them at Foxtrot or check out their store locator here!”–Jess

America Offline: What Comes Next?

America Offline: What Comes Next? On a High Note Vol 51

“We’ve just lived through the most online period in history. What comes next? That’s what this piece from the Atlantic explores. After an exhaustive year where we did everything on the Internet — work, attend weddings, chat with friends and family, stream entertainment, etc., will summer 2021 be the start of a great offlining? According to early stats, it appears most of us are already staying off of our phones in favor of more human interaction and offline living. Read it here!” — Kendall

The best nursery rhyme book

“I came home to the most delightful package for LR from Whitney on Saturday, shipped with love all the way from London! It included the sweetest doll, an adorable crinkly toy London newspaper, and this book of nursery rhymes called, “What are Little Girls Made Of?” which is a collection of the most classic nursery rhymes, re-written with empowering language. I couldn’t love a book more and know you all are always looking for meaningful, unique gifts, and I couldn’t wait to share! (Click through for a sneak peek!) She purchased it at Daunt books, but it’s available for US shoppers on Amazon! Thank you auntie Whitney for the most special gifts!! ????” –Jess

Wearing colorful clothes can recharge your spirit

“This Shondaland piece made me think of Jess and her “happy sweater” concept to feel inspired during grey/cold days during the transition of winter to spring. Essentially, color can lift your mood! As the author says, ‘energy and intuition are more deeply correlated with our choices in the way we dress and the colors we gravitate towards more than we ever previously thought.’ Wearing certain colors can help us tap into specific feelings energetically. Pretty cool!” — Kendall

My T3 Curling Iron for HALF off!

My T3 Curling Iron for HALF off!

“I have owned this curling iron for many years now (it has withstood the test of time) and while it’s a splurge, I definitely think it’s a worthwhile investment! (If you curl your hair a lot, and you find you’re wanting a higher quality curling iron!) It holds a curl for DAYS like no other curling iron I’ve used (and I’ve gotten my hair done A LOT over the years). Of course, everyone’s hair is different, but just my experience!

Right now, T3 products are up to half off at Ulta! You can get the “T3 Whirl” set if you want the multiple barrel sizes, or you can just buy the base and wands separately. (The 1″ wand is what I use 99.9% of the time!) If you prefer to curl your hair with a clip style barrel, they have those too! (I also have them, and they’re great, I just prefer the wand!) It just depends on how you like to curl your hair. My T3 hair dryer is also half off!

Tip: I use this on heat level 3 out of 5. I started using it years ago on full heat and it definitely started damaging my hair. Most people do NOT need to use this on full power unless you have coarser hair.” –Jess

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Chance to Start Over”

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Chance to Start Over | On a High Note Vol 51

“Looks like Kendall and I both have picks from The Atlantic this week! ???? This is from their weekly column, “Building a Life” about happiness (something happy to look forward to each week!) I loved this article about how we get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to have a fresh start, and the concept of creating a Venn diagram between “pre pandemic” and “post pandemic” life–and what we want to keep and get rid of from each moving forward.” –Jess
