On a High Note: Vol 22

“Okay, the “smell” category is a new one. ???? I didn’t know what else to call it but stick with me–because this is GOOD.

I now cannot remember the name of the reader who sent me this candle when I was in the midst of a pretty low day last week (THANK YOU!) but I ordered it immediately. She said that this candle is perhaps the most comforting thing she’s purchased all of quarantine, and I have to agree with her–it arrived this weekend and I’ve been burning it ever since!

It’s a French Canadian maple syrup candle with a wooden wick that sounds like a crackling fire. (Sounds cheesy, but just wait until you try it.) Not to mention, the vintage design looks perfect on the counter. Also–it’s on AMAZON!

It reminds me so much of our winter trip to Quebec City (AKA one of my favorite weekends of the year last year) and it’s the absolute perfect fall candle. It’s one of those “little things” that totally makes your day!” –Jess

Why Did I Think Ruth Bader Ginsburg Wouldn’t Die

On a High Note: Vol 22

Photo via The Cut

“I really enjoyed this inspiring and uplifting piece about RBG on The Cut. The author talks about she viewed RBG as someone with superhuman strength, and how she hoped she could control the timing of her own death because she represents feminism, motherhood, friendship, earnestness, hard work, light humor, self-deprecation, rigor, and justice.

She was extraordinary — not because she had magical powers but exactly because she did not. It is perhaps better to look reality in the face, as she did: to protect those who need protection, to extinguish the fires that we can extinguish…If we elevate Ginsburg to a goddess, then we relieve ourselves of the responsibility of emulating her. She was human, and the example of her long, strong life is attainable by us.'” —Kendall

“TJ’s lovers, do you follow @BlackGirlsinTraderJoes?! I immediately saved their latest IG post. MAPLE BUTTER FRIED CHICKEN BISCUITS!? I think these look like the ultimate fall comfort food and would be a perfect thing to make for a Football Sunday! I think we could ALL use some indulgence right now, and these sound like joy on a plate!” –Jess

Father of the Bride 3(ish)!

On a High Note: Vol 22

“Did you guys see Father of the Bride 3ish over the weekend?! I had just randomly rewatched the original and sequel (highly recommend for days that you need a little pick-me-up) before seeing the reunion news! While it’s not an actual “part 3,” (maybe one day soon?!) it was really sweet and it’s for a good cause — it’s raising proceeds for the World Central Kitchen, which provides meals for kids and families impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. If you’re a Nancy Meyers fan, it was incredibly sweet and well done. Catch it on Netflix!”  —Kendall

Hello Adams Family Fall Playlist

“After a rough couple of weeks in the PNW, this past weekend felt like fall- crisper temps and the start of changing leaves! If you’re all about the cozy fall vibes right now, like me, I highly recommend setting a relaxing tone for this week with this mellow seasonal playlist from Hello Adams Family!” –Kendall  (P.S. Fun fact–Kendall is Carolyn’s sister in law! ????????)

Aerie’s $23 “Offline” Leggings that are DEAD RINGER for Lulu Align dupes!

Aerie's $23 "Offline" Leggings that are DEAD RINGER for Lulu Align dupes!

“One of my biggest pet peeves is when influencers taut “Lululemon Align dupes” that actually feel nothing like Lululemon Align pants. ???? That incredibly buttery, naked-feeling material has been mastered by nobody else, until now! This is the first time I have EVER felt like a pair of leggings was a dead ringer for Align pants, and they’re Aerie’s new (I think new?) “Offline” collection. They are UN.REAL. And they’re on sale right now for $23!! I love all the different colors they come in, and I snagged this brown color perfect for fall. I love them so much I wore them three days in a row this weekend, and I think I might put them back on today! They run true to size! (I got a small!)” –Jess
