Nordstrom Sale Public Access: My Picks + 19 Ways to Style Them!

Jul 18, 2019

Sooo…you probably already know there’s a Nordstrom salleeeee….??

What you may not know is that it finally launches to the public on Friday July 19th!! (I’m publishing this late night on the 18th so you guys can start scoping out what you want to buy in the AM, but for many of you reading this, Friday is already TODAY!)

Anyway–because we already all have sale fatigue I tried to make this post as STREAMLINED as possible. I really love all the staples I’m sharing here with you today and *as of now* most of them are still in stock! Huzzah!

Additionally, I am fully aware that many of you are NOT shopping the sale–and frankly, good for you! If you’re on a no-shopping freeze, or you’re on a tight budget–GOOD GIRL! I’m proud of you! That being said, I definitely wanted to stick to classics here so you could shop your OWN closet and come away with lot’s of outfit inspiration, even if you aren’t buying anything new!

Caveat:

I did have a snafu happen with my first order, so a lot of what I ordered last Friday didn’t go through, and then by the time they figured it out, half the stuff had sold out, I had to re-place the order, and I still don’t have part of it. ?Just in case you were wondering why NONE of the stuff I told you I was ordering last week actually made it in here. ?(Don’t worry though, I will report back and post more reviews when the rest of my purchases arrive!)

Anyway, hope you love the post! ?Okay, let’s jump in!

(PS sorry for my janky phone case/pop socket that fell off. Ok fine it actually fell off like a month ago and the top is still in Emma’s room somewhere but I haven’t gotten a new one and OH WELL! ?)

Quick reference: The items I’ll be styling here:

Nordstrom sale picks–best staples + how to style them:

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings: (Plus here!) $64 (marked down from $98)

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings: (Plus here!) $64 (marked down from $98)

I am actually SHOCKED these Spanx faux leather leggings (plus size here!) are still in stock–my other favorite faux leather leggings, the Commando leggings, sold out so fast, but these didn’t! They are both amazing–I’d say the Commando’s are more “leathery” and the Spanx are more “shiny legging-y” ?The Spanx are great for sucking you in!

Sizing: I wear a small and I’m usually a small or XS–so if you’re typically someone who is ever in between sizes, go with the bigger size. Scroll down to all the other outfits for more ways to style these leather leggings (and links to all other items worn here!)

**Headband is actually a scarf tied in my hair. You can see my tutorial on that here. The scarf itself is old.

AG Farrah High Waisted Stretch Jeans: $149 (marked down from $225)

AG Farrah High Waisted Stretch Jeans: $149 (marked down from $225)

These jeans are my #1 denim pick from the Nordstrom sale if you’re looking for a pair of super flattering SUPER comfortable skinny jeans. UPDATE: If you see your size sold out at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales has what essentially looks like the same pair, but without the raw hem, and they’re also 30% off!

Can’t say enough good things about these jeans–they have a raw hem with a slit at the side–I’m a little north of 5’6 and they are full length on me–I roll them to wear with booties. They are so incredibly soft–they feel more like cloth than denim! They also have the perfect amount of stretch, but don’t bag out at all!

Sizing: TTS. I wear size 25 and these fit great! Scroll down to all the other outfits for more ways to style the jeans (and links to all other items worn here!)

White leather converse sneakers: $46 (marked down from $70)

White leather converse sneakers: $46 (marked down from $70)

You know how much I LOVEEEE my Tretorns–but they are canvas, not leather, and I know a lot of you guys don’t want to deal with canvas because it can get dirty so fast–I saw these in leather and had to try them for you anti canvas peeps–and guess what? I LOVE THEM! They’re SO great! They totally achieve the classic white sneaker look and are as versatile as the Tretorns, with the added bonus of being able to wipe them clean.

I haven’t worn them walking long distances yet but wearing them around the house they’re SO comfortable. Dfinitely way more comfortable than average converse when you first put them on. Although definitely not as cushiony and soft as the Tretorns, they’re still very comfortable. Sizing: Go down 1/2 size–they run big!  Scroll down to all the other outfits for more ways to style these sneakers or any other white sneakers you have!

Steve Madden Jillian Booties: $86 (marked down from $129)

Steve Madden Jillian Booties: $86 (marked down from $129)

My #1 bootie pick from the sale! These are selling out SO FAST. If you see them in your size and want them, check out immediately! Also, check back often for re-stocks! This Vince Camuto pair is also part of the sale. They’re a similar shape and fully stocked! BP also makes a very similar pair that is part of the sale and comes in other colors too!

My other NSale bootie pick is the Blondo Nina booties, if you want something that is waterproof and you want a rounder toe!

I chose these Steve Madden booties specifically because I have an old pair of Dolce Vita booties that look EXACTLY like this that I’ve worn into the ground, and I haven’t been able to find anything else in their exact shape–until now! I think the heel hight, the almond toe, and where they hit at the ankle makes them super flattering while being comfy at the same time.

Sizing: Some of the reviews say they run small but I don’t find that to be true, so I guess it depends on how thick you like your socks to be.

Scroll down to all the other outfits for more ways to style these booties (or any tan booties you have!)

Louise et Cie Leopard Loafers: $99 (marked down from $149)

Louise et Cie Leopard Loafers: $99 (marked down from $149)

I think leopard loafers like these are a fantastic wardrobe staple for every closet, because they add so much more personality to an otherwise basic outfit. They’re also versatile. You’ll wear them to work but also on the weekends! I have owned a pair of Sam Edelman leopard loafers forever, but they stopped making them, so I wanted to scope these guys out for you. I love the tassel detail of this pair especially! They’re very comfortable. I feel like they’ve broken in just wearing them around the house. Sizing: size up, they run small! Scroll down to all the other outfits for more ways to style these loafers or any leopard shoes you have!

BP Waffle Henley Jumpsuit: $42 (marked down from $65)

BP Waffle Henley Jumpsuit: $42 (marked down from $65)
My friend gave me heat for this one but YOU GUYS THIS IS THE AMAZON MUMU OF JUMPSUITS. It’s a WAFFLE. HENLEY. JUMPSUIT. It’s SOOO COMFY! And it ties at the waist? So flattering! Like sweatpants but a one-piece–so way chicer. PJ’s you can wear in public!! (Also hello, a great one-piece=no brainer comfy travel outfit?) I’m obsessed!

Wear it with sandals (wearing Sam Edelman Bay Sandals here–TTS) in the summer and throw on a jean jacket and sneakers (scroll down for review of these converse–also included in the sale!) for a great travel outfit any time of year! Huge plus: YOU CAN WEAR A REGULAR BRA!! The shape perfectly hides bra straps and the low back dips right above your strap in the back!

Sizing: I went with a small because XS wasn’t available when I ordered, but I’m really glad I did, because it fits perfectly, so if anything, I’d say size up. If you have a super long torso I’d say this will be too short for you. It fits me perfectly but if it were any shorter it would probably have given me a wedgie.

Plaid Cashmere Wrap/Scarf: $98 (marked down from $149)

Plaid Cashmere Wrap/Scarf: $98 (marked down from $149) Plaid Cashmere Wrap/Scarf: $98 (marked down from $149)  Plaid Cashmere Wrap/Scarf: $98 (marked down from $149)

It took me forever to decide on WHICH cashmere scarf/wrap to choose (they had a lot part of the sale!) but I ultimately picked this cashmere wrap/scarf because I love the colors and plaid pattern, but also really liked that I could wear it as a scarf OR a wrap/poncho. I also love that its lightweight, which makes it ideal for travel because it stuffs easily in a bag and doesn’t make you overheat if you layer it over another sweater!

(Everything else in this outfit linked in this photo except for the tank. I wasn’t planning on using it here but I didn’t have a black and white striped long sleeve handy so this was the stand-in ?) The tank is not part of the sale, but fully stocked! Can’t say enough good things about it!)

Caslon Long Sleeve Tee: $18 (marked down from $29)

Caslon Long Sleeve Tee: $18 (marked down from $29)

Caslon Long Sleeve Tee: $18 (marked down from $29)  Caslon Long Sleeve Tee: $18 (marked down from $29)

I love Caslon tees. This one comes in TONS of colors! I usually would gravitate toward a more neutral one, but something about the fun colorful stripes just spoke to me! I loved that due to how thin and airy it is AND the fun colors. You could wear it now with jean shorts (these are my favorite jean shorts!) and later with jeans and booties as a fun way to brighten up a fall or winter outfit! A great layering piece year round. It’s impossible not to smile when you put this on!

Leather jacket note: The one I’m wearing here is from Italy but this similar one on sale is one of the few I’ve found in the exact same beautiful color! I ordered it but it hasn’t arrived yet, I’ll definitely report back!

Sizing: true to size, wearing a small here.

Halogen Cashmere + Wool Long Cardigan: Reg & Petite–$132 (marked down from $199)

Halogen Cashmere + Wool Long Cardigan: Reg & Petite–$132 (marked down from $199)

I’m SHOOK this longline sweater is not sold out yet! I thought this would be the first to go! It’s still fully stocked (at the time of writing this) in most colors in sizes. It’s the perfect sweater to wrap around yourself in fall and winter. So warm and cozy. Also, the length makes you look insanely chic!

Sizing: True to size! Wearing a small but could’ve also gone with XS, they just didn’t have it in the store!

Another option: This Leith longline cardigan is on sale for only $45 and comes in plus size, too! You can get the same exact look with that one, too!

(Everything else in this outfit linked in this photo except for the tank–I wasn’t planning on using it here but I didn’t have a black and white striped long sleeve handy so this was the stand-in ?) The tank is not part of the sale, but fully stocked! Can’t say enough good things about it!)

I know you guys are always looking for good versatile travel purses, so when I saw this convertible backpack, I squealed a little! This comes in both olive and black. It’s a little backpack but it’s convertible from a side body–it also has a zipped interior pocket for extra security.

For reference, it holds my big DSLR camera, a scarf, wallet, and more–all the essentials I need with me on a vacation! **Currently only available in black but keep checking back frequently because as returns come in I’m sure the green will be restocked!**

WUBBY FLEECE! $49 (marked down from $78)

WUBBY FLEECE! $49 (marked down from $78)

[/one-half]

WUBBYYYYYY! You know this is my #1 most lived in sweater of last winter. ?I think if I DIDN’T post an IG story wearing Wubby Fleece, everyone was shocked. I got the white color for this year’s version and I love it so much. It comes in the original grey and a maroon color too!

Update from last year: It also isn’t lined with the jersey lining that last year’s had (at least the white isn’t), so it’s not as hot (if that was an issue for you, I know a lot of people thought OG Wubby made them too toasty) and the soft fleece is right next to your skin! Sizing: Runs big. I’m wearing a small!

Leith shaped neck sweater (regular and plus): $38 (marked down from $59)

[/one-half]

Okay, remember how I was disappointed about the Leith wrap sweater? THIS sweater (comes in regular and plus) is the sweater to write home about! It’s very soft, perfect for casual everyday, but can be made a little sexy due to the v-cutout (I mean, sexy for a sweater ?) so it’s the best sweater for date nights and going out while still keeping you warm! It’s flattering! I’m in love with the burnt orange/camel color!

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lip kit: $60 ($78 value)

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lip kit: $60 ($78 value)

Okay yes I know this isn’t clean. But this is one of the few “non-clean” products I will probably never stop using. It is THE BEST nude lipstick IN THE WORLD. And I don’t know how this is possible, but it is flattering on so many different skin tones! You line and fill in  your lips with the pencil (which makes it stay on a LONG time), follow with the lipstick, and then if you want a glossy finish, follow with the gloss. It’s the perfect trio. Also, the kit is part of the Anniversary sale!

In stock things I bought that haven’t arrived yet:

So there was a processing hiccup and my first order actually didn’t go through correctly, thus, I have not gotten a lot of items that I ordered online yet. ?So, here is what will be arriving and what I will review EVENTUALLY!

Blondo Noreen Knee High Waterproof Suede Boots:  $159 (marked down from $239)

Blondo Noreen Knee High Waterproof Suede Boots:  $159 (marked down from $239)

UGHHH I can’t believe these STILL haven’t arrived!! I really wanted to include these in today’s try on. ?The good news is that I’ve heard really good things from those of you who DID get yours! There is only one review online, but it’s a great one too!

Cole Haan Ramsey Pointed Toe Leopard Flats: $99 (marked down from $150)

Cole Haan Ramsey Pointed Toe Leopard Flats: $99 (marked down from $150)

I know you guys are always looking for good workwear staples, and I think a great pair of flats is a must for anyone! As I said above about the leopard loafers, I LOVE a good pair of leopard flats! I think that pointed toe flats tend to make your outfit look more chic and sophisticated (rounded toe flats can look frumpy depending on what they’re paired with). Also, the leopard pattern makes any old work outfit more fun! These have fantastic reviews. In addition, Cole Haan is known for their cushiony insoles, so I’m excited to try them out for myself!

Sam Edelman Lambskin Leather Moto Jacket: $239 (marked down from $360!)

Sam Edelman Lambskin Leather Moto Jacket: $239 (marked down from $360!)

?Another item in my ORIGINAL order that got messed up the first day of early access, so I haven’t actually received this jacket yet!

I mentioned this before, but everyone ALWAYS asks where my leather jacket is from that I got in Italy; everyone is always so disappointed when they can’t buy it, and I rarely see leather jackets in that exact color, but this one is. So I bought it to see if it would be a good alternative! I think a leather jacket is probably one of the best investment pieces you can ever make in your wardrobe, because you wear them year round in lot’s of different weather. They look cute with everything from dresses to jeans to leggings or joggers.

Chelsea 28 Floral Jumpsuit: $98 (marked down from $149)

Chelsea 28 Floral Jumpsuit: $98 (marked down from $149)

I stumbled across this gem of a jumpsuit buried in the Anniversary sale. (I think that’s why it hasn’t sold out, nobody has found it yet–hehehe.) Honestly, I love this because it’s perfect to wear now, and later. You can wear it with sandals or with booties and a moto or jean jacket!

Other favorite picks:

(Things I have my eye on, personally own, OR that I just think you’ll love!)

ASTR Lace Midi Dress: $59 (Marked down from $89)

ASTR Lace Midi Dress: $59 (Marked down from $89)

THE BEST WEDDING GUEST DRESS EVER! I have owned this for over a year now and worn it to countless weddings in all seasons! I have it in the burgundy color but it comes in tons of colors! It’s seriously the most flattering dress.

Sizing:

Does run small in the ribcage, just FYI!

Stuart Weitzman Darla OTK boot: $499 (marked down from $795)

Stuart Weitzman Darla OTK boot: $499 (marked down from $795)

I CAN’T BELIEVE THESE ARE STILL IN STOCK!! I have come so close to buying these even though I don’t *need* another pair of black OTK Stuart Weitzman boots. I love that these have a block heel and more treading on the sole, so you have more traction in slippery weather! I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again; nobody makes OTK boots like Stuart Weitzman. There is no real dupe, truly.

Aquatalia Sleek Waterproof Riding Boots: $329 (marked down from $495)

Aquatalia Sleek Waterproof Riding Boots: $329 (marked down from $495)

I saw my friend Krista post these (she got them in brown!) and I am swoooning over them. Honestly, I love that they’re waterproof leather riding boots and that they’re actually very snug and sleek in the calves. It’s really hard for me to find riding boots that aren’t just swimming on my calves. I think I might have to pull the trigger on these. I can’t believe how discounted they are!

Rebecca Minkoff Laura Croc Tote: $125 (marked down from $189)

I almost bought this bag in person. It’s SO pretty and so cute. But I either use big totes for a work bag, or smaller purses. So I knew it wouldn’t be practical for me personally. But I’m STILL thinking about it!! If you need a medium sized purse, definitely go for this one! Rebecca Minkoff makes such great bags!

Blondo Waterproof Nina Booties: $99 (marked down from $149)

Blondo Waterproof Nina Booties: $99 (marked down from $149)

You know how much I rave about Blondo booties. I think these are SO CUTE. I heard from quite a few of you who dmed me saying you ordered them and LOVEDDD them! Yes, like all Blondo shoes, they’re totally waterproof (and salt proof, too!) so you don’t have to worry about ruining them in the winter! They come in lot’s of colors but I always think a neutral taupe is most versatile.

Zella High Waist Live In Leggings: Regular and Plus! $38 (marked down from $59)

Zella High Waist Live In Leggings: Regular and Plus! $38 (marked down from $59)

I don’t need to go into detail about these. You know what they are and how they’re such a great staple! YES, they’re still in stock! Go go go! Shop all Zella leggings on sale here! See my whole Zella leggings guide here

Hanky Panky Low Rise Thongs: $16 (from $22) or 4 for $59!

Hanky Panky Low Rise Thongs: $16 (from $22) or 4 for $59!

The best underwear EVER. The anniversary sale is one of the few times I ever see them reduced in price! Stock up for the whole year. Seriously, the most comfortable undies I own!

Moonlight Pajamas: Regular and Plus: $35 (marked down from $55)

Moonlight Pajamas: Regular and Plus: $35 (marked down from $55)

I LOVEEEE these pajamas so so much! I have the shortiest but they come in long pants/sleeves as well! Cannot say enough good things and they are such an incredible price!

Madewell Pink Short Pajamas: $49 (marked down from $75)

Madewell Pink Short Pajamas: $49 (marked down from $75)

I also think these pink Madewell pajamas are ADORABLE! They were in my guide at the beginning of the sale and they were actually one of your top sellers! They look really soft too!

Leith Tie Front High Waist Pants: $45 (Marked down from $69)

Leith Tie Front High Waist Pants: $45 (Marked down from $69)

Okay, sooo these pants are basically the only “office” staple I could find that I actually thought was cute/worth buying out of all their sale inventory. ?They come in a dark burgundy color too which is really pretty; most sizes are still available! They’d be so cute with booties, too!

Favorite size inclusive picks:

Because so much is sold out, I’m not going to do the “shop by category” like I did in my first Early Access post because I just don’t feel like there’s enough good stuff stock to warrant that; I will maybe pop back in here in the AM and add a few more things that are catching my eye, but what I DID want to do is include a plus size call out for my non straight sized ladies!

It is definitely a goal of mine to be much more size inclusive here on this blog, and I’m so thankful that my friend Dallas took it upon herself to email me a bunch of her favorite plus size sale picks for me to use in my guide! You’re the best, Dallas! I keep asking her to spearhead a size inclusive series here on the blog. Maybe she just needs some encouragement from you guys. ?What do you think!? Shop Dallas’ picks (and a few of mine!) in the widget below!

WHEW! Can’t believe we made it to the bottom. Are you still reading? ?I hope you liked today’s post and that you have a FABULOUS weekend!
