It’s been awhile since my last Life Lately, hasn’t it!? Wanted to pop in with a little update of what we’ve been doing lately both behind the scenes! (By the way, if you want to follow along on everything happening in-the-moment, make sure to check in daily on Instagram stories!)
This week has been really nice and low-key–since it was insanely rainy on Monday and Tuesday, I feel like I barely left the house the first half of the week! Shaheen came over to work on Monday (her mom is here to watch Zain so she got to sneak away for the afternoon!) and then Tuesday I worked from home as well AND finally got myself organized thanks to my new clothing rack !!)
Yesterday was the first day the sun had been out in awhile (HOORAY!) I actually made it to Orange Theory at 7am (miracles, guys) and then met Blair and Shahaeen for a work date in the West Loop (more on that below!) All in all, it’s been a pretty great week so far! How about you?

We love going for walks on Saturday and Sunday mornings to get coffee! One of my favorite spots is Alliance Bakery, which isn’t far from our house. They have Collectivo coffee (which is SO good) and their Almond croissants…OH. MY. GOODNESS. They are heavenly beyond words. The best I’ve had in Chicago, you have to go! (Outfit details: Hunter Boots, Barbour Beadnell (make sure to pay attention to sizing details on the site, certain sizes run differently than others), similar turtleneck, similar hat, similar scarf)
**Tearing up** came across this photo the other day that I snapped as soon as I ripped open our wedding invitations! I’ll be a doing a whole post about them (waiting until we get the photos back from our photographer!) but it’s called the “Johannis” collection from Minted! We wanted something really simple and elegant but casual at the same time, since our wedding was anything but formal! (Also hilarious that we didn’t end up getting married at the venue on our invitations! ? More on that here.) In all seriousness though, everything we ordered from them was such high-quality and we loved Minted SO much! They also have matching menus, programs, place cards, and thank-you notes that go with their invitations too which was a life-saver!
Snapped yesterday on our work date in the West Loop! Blog post coming soon! Shaheen and I did a quick shoot after lunch and Blair decided she was too pregnant and that her outfit shooting is over until baby arrives. ? Outfit details: Sweater, velvet leggings, loafers–the loafers are seriously so comfy, require no break-in and will be SO nice for travel during the holidays. They’re “smoking slipper” loafers and they really do feel like slippers! (These all run TTS by the way). For more on this outfit, see how to spice up an everyday outfit.
Last Sunday this guy convinced me to go to the Bears game with him. I usually just go to these types of events for the food but it was actually a really good game! Plus…they’re a lot easier to watch now that Jay Cutler got the boot. That guy is the worst.
Have you been to Front Bar? Its the cutest coffee shop and bar attached to the Steppanwolf Theatre in Lincoln Park! I’ve worked there a few different times and it’s the cutest little place. This was the first time I could pull out my favorite Everlane Oxfords (which I talked about in yesterday’s post!) and I was so excited to wear them! (Also these jeans are seriously the comfiest.)
I got the new iPhone a couple weeks back and it has been a GAMEEEE. CHANGER when it comes to photos, guys. This was the first picture I took with it in HORRIBLE lighting at night, in my house. (I have the bigger version, whatever that one is called, which is the one with the better camera, by the way). I thought it would feel like a game boy but I got used to it really quickly and now anytime I hold anyone elses’ phone in my hand it feels like a miniature toy. ?
One of my besties and former roomies, Liz got engaged a couple weeks ago! All their friends got together and planned a little surprise soiree for her and her new husband-to-be at Derby. She was SO shocked and it was so cute! (If you ever need to plan a casual get-together, I can’t recommend Derby enough. They are so nice and accommodating, don’t charge you anything extra, and we even got our own private area!) So happy for you Liz P!!
FINALLY got to have lunch at Cafe Robey! It was so good–I got the omelette and it was delicious. It’s the cutest vibe, and a fun place to take parents and friends who are visiting town if you live in Wicker Park! My (AGAIN with the roommates. This is like Life Lately, old roommate edition ?) Freshman year college roomie, Chelsea was in town from LA, hence the fancy weekday lunch occasion!
On my way home from lunch with Chelsea, I stopped into Urban Outfitters because I saw this beret in the window. I decided this wannabe French girl needed one in her life 😉 I’m obsessed, and it’s only $29!
At my friend Kai’s big company launch party at Winestyr! You’ve heard me talk about her before, but she and two of her friends recently opened a brand new catering business called Littlevent. She’s the most insanely talented cook I’ve ever met and can personally vouch for almost all of her menu items! (Hire her! Go go go!) Also, speaking of roomies AND getting engaged, this wasn’t long before Kate (on the right!) got engaged. Of course, Cassandra was there to capture it all–go stalk their photos right here. They are SO CUTE. (It happened while we were on our honeymoon and I was so sad I wasn’t there to hide in the bushes to see it happen!)

Snapped at The Allis at Soho House on our work date yesterday. (Some of you have asked if you have to be a member to go there and work–no you don’t! Everyone is welcome at The Allis on the bottom floor, it’s just the floors above that are member-only!) We’re taking advantage of these last few days we’ll have Blair all to ourselves before baby comes! We can’t wait to meet you, Baby Staky!! P.S. You can get this sweater here.
