Newest Wardrobe Staple: Levi’s Wedgie Jeans

May 25, 2017

Jeans: Levi’s Wedgie Jeans (also available here and about 150 more places below) // Shoes: c/o Everlane (my favorite heels ever, they are SO comfy, you can walk in them all day. They also come in the cutest slides and ballet flats as well. Tons of colors, too! Ah! They’re just too good!) Tee: J.Crew (similar here and here!)

I don’t buy a lot of jeans, really.

You’ve probably noticed, right? I mean, I wear a lot of jeans on this blog, but they’re typically the same repeat offenders.

(I tell you this so you understand that I don’t just go around buying jeans all willie nillie like I would buy lattes!)

When a certain pair catches my eye, I think about them for a long time. I mull them over, decide if they’re different enough from the other jeans in my wardrobe, and then finally pounce once I can’t take it anymore.

That’s what happened with the Levi’s Wedgie Jeans. Also known as magic pants that give you the best butt ever jeans.

(And I decided I should have a blog post exclusively on them, because, well–they’re pretty much the next big thing when it comes to denim right now. You can’t go in any retailer without seeing them front and center!)

When I first saw these jeans, I loved them immediately. Seeing as I already own several pairs of Levi’s, it wasn’t that hard to rationalize why I needed to make room for them in my wardrobe.

Here’s why I love’ em:

They’ve got that lived-in, vintage appeal right out of the box (er, bag?) They’re high-waisted (my favorite) and are very flattering in the booty.

Admittedly, I wasn’t sure if the whole straight-leg cutoff thing was too edgy for me. (I often wear button downs and loafers for goodness sake.) But here’s the thing…they TOTALLY work with everything! The tee and shoes you see me wearing them with here are often worn with my favorite skinny jeans, but with the wedgie jeans, it creates a totally different look! I love that about them! You don’t often make a statement with your jeans, but with these–you can!

Oh, they’re also $88. So you can’t really beat that price.

Boy stamp of approval:

I also expected Neal to hate these because they weren’t skinny jeans, but he loves them! He thinks they’re sexy and “darling” at the same time. Yes, he actually uses the word “darling” to describe my outfits. (He is darling.)

About fit:

These are a size 26, which are my regular size. I’m pretty much never NOT a 26, so I would say these run true to size. However, keep in mind, these don’t really have any give. This particular kind + wash aren’t stretchy jeans whatsoever, so if you are sometimes in-between sizes, I might recommend buying both and returning the one that doesn’t fit, just in case. If you like your jeans loose, you may want to consider sizing up.

For height reference, I’m 5’6!

Note about product photos: Depending on the model, wedgie jeans can look SO drastically different from photo to photo. Sometimes they appear to be oversized boyfriend jeans, sometimes they appear to be tight capri’s. It’s bizarre. (Further proof why websites just need to hire regular people as models, you know?)

Anyway, despite what you may see online–these are meant to be tight in the behind, slim through the upper leg. Just so we’re on the same page here!

“Wedgie Straight” vs “Wedgie Icon” + washes:

Wedgie jeans come in a couple different cuts and tons of washes! (Hooray and also boo–so many options! Too many options?) Both are high-rise.

The pair I’m wearing here are the Wedgie straight fit and the wash is rough tide. (They also come in a darker wash called “Lasting Impression.”) You can also find both right now on Free People!

The other fit is the “Wedgie Icon” which is nearly identical, just with a more tapered (i.e. skinny) leg. These also come in tons of washes–some have more stretch than others, so some sizing may not be consistent–overall though, I’ve found that Levi’s are very consistent in sizing and I’ve never worn anything other than a 26 in Levi’s!

Other favorite pairs: I like the “lost inside” wash which is distressed in the knees, and also the Coyote Desert wash, which is very similar to mine, just slightly more blue, and a bit more tapered in the leg. Okay fine–I like 100 different kinds.

Where to buy them:

They sell them literally everywhere, but they sell out quickly, so if you’re hesitating, snap them up now, and check back often! Shopbop, Bloomingdales, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters and Free People  are great places to check, just to name a few!

What do you think? Would you try out the Levi’s Wedgie jeans?
