Slip Dress: Splendid (under $100!) also comes in olive green and navy! (Sizing: Loose, so if you prefer more fitted, size down. I’m wearing a small here but probably could’ve done XS) I also love this slinky satin slip dress for $45–it comes in light pink, black, and grey, too! Love this cute floral version, too! // Shoes: Loeffler Randall Piper Wedge Sandals (also come in a low block heel (I’m thinking of getting for these for my wedding shoes!)–also, $79 twins here!) Similar scalloped heels here for $69, which also come in nude! Scarf: old, but have you seen Banana Republic’s scarves? They’re SO cute and affordable! Ann Taylor has a bunch of adorable ones, too! // Hat: Hinge (only $29! You saw it styled here on my LA trip and here on my London trip too!)
Speaking of Tuesdays, (or, you know, days in general)…
WHEW man, you guys. I’m having one of those weeks where I have absolutely no clue what day it is.
Blair and I had a busy weekend in Dallas at the RewardStyle blogging conference and we are still exhausted from information overload! We learned so many great things this year that I’m excited to implement to make your overall experience reading this blog even better!
Also, can I just take a minute to fangirl? Guess who I met while I was there?
My favorite blogger EVER.
Joanna from Cup of Jo!
It’s a rare occurrence when I get nervous going up to introduce myself to someone (I also have zero interest in celebrities of any kind, so this was probably the biggest fangirl moment I will ever have) but I legitimately started BLUSHING I was so excited to meet her.
She was the most normal, down to earth, sweetest person ever and sounded genuinely flattered [and weirdly not creeped out] when I embarrassingly told her that I’ve been reading her blog for the majority of my adult life and said things like, “Oh is your husband watching Toby and Anton this weekend?!” (10 out of 10 on the stalker scale) but getting to chat with her and her equally sweet and down to earth team at Friday night’s cocktail party was the icing on the cake for a great weekend!
I had also never been to Dallas and did not expect it to be so beautiful! I imagined it to be more similar to Scottsdale, but I was so wrong! I wish we had been able to stay longer! The first night we got dinner at Dolce Riviera (which was sooo good. Get the fettuccine bolognese–it’s to die for!) and then at Mi Cocina, a Dallas staple, on Saturday night. I’m going to be craving Tex Mex every day for the next week! Chicago girls–do you have any
Anyway, let’s chat details for today’s outfit! The real star of the show: the slip dress! Ba da daaaa!
Do you own a slip dress yet? If not, it’s a really classic, versatile piece that might help solve a lot of those “what the heck do I wear to this thing?” moments.
Here I’m wearing this slip dress by Splendid! What I love about the slip dress: you can wear it to pretty much any occasion–to brunch with sneakers, to a daytime date with flat sandals, an upscale romantic date night with a pair of heels, or even to a wedding! It also knows no boundaries when it comes to seasons–in the winter, wear your favorite coat or sweater over it, in the spring, a light jacket with a scarf and hat (ahem) or the summer, with–let’s be honest, you don’t even need to wear anything else with it. It’s great just by itself!
I also think scalloped sandals are having a moment. The Loeffler Randall pair I’m wearing here are borrowed from Blair, but I’m thinking of getting their Emi sandals for my wedding shoes–reason being, the heel is lower (I can’t be crying over my feet on my wedding day!) and wider (minimum grass sinkage at our outdoor venue!)
What do you guys think?
If you’ve been following this blog for any extended period of time, you probably have caught on to the fact that I love silk scarves. You can wear them so many different ways, and they add a very chic, sophisticated touch to anything you pair them with! Banana Republic has so many cute ones right now in particular–have you shopped there in awhile? Admittedly I haven’t either, but their newest stuff is SO. DANG. CUTE! Ann Taylor has a bunch, too!
