Blazer: Old (Similar here, and here, and budget friendly version here!) // Sweater: Ann Taylor (I really love their cashmere! I also want to add this v-neck to my collection as well) // Leather Leggings: old, but identical here (also love these, which are a more classic fit and less “leggings-ish” and this $38 budget friendly version here!) Scarf: Vintage, but I love this one, this similar version, as well as this one!// Shoes: Old, (from Piperlime, RIP) but this pair is super similar. Also, if high heels aren’t your thing, you’ll love this kitten heeled version! // Bracelets: Busywrist, J.Crew
Happy Friday, you guys!
First of all, I want to say a HUGE thank you for those of you who filled out yesterday’s reader survey. (If you haven’t yet, it would mean THE WORLD to me if you would–it’s anonymous and only takes a few seconds!) Not only was it extremely insightful, but also incredibly encouraging (thank you for your kind words!)
As you know, Neal and I have spent this week in Grand Rapids. This is our second time visiting this cute city together, so when he told me he was coming for business I jumped on board. I’ve been posting up in coffee shops all week. I actually wrote a draft of a Grand Rapids guide a long time go and this reminds me, I need to post it! For those of you in the midwest looking for a little weekend trip, this little city is a great contender!
Right before we left for the lake house (and subsequently, Michigan) last Friday, Kelly and I met our friends Cassandra (who moved to Florida and was in town! Sooo good to see her!) and Meg, also known as the designer behind Busywrist (the best jewelry site ever. I’m wearing her bracelet in these photos!) We took a quick break from work for some hot chocolate at (wait for it…) Mindy’s Hot Chocolate and it was delicious. I literally never actually take a break and get out of the house to meet girlfriends for lunch, so it was a huge treat.
Afterwords, Kelly and I perused Club Monaco and longed to win the lottery so we could buy the entire store, I obsessed over how comfy these jeans were and then headed outside to snap these photos!
Also, total disclaimer you guys, I don’t wear heels when I go out to lunch. (Because, who does that?) Just in case you were thinking such a thing. However, these leopard pretties looked so much cuter with my outfit than my black rain boots, (aren’t you sick of seeing those, anyway?) which I was wearing 5 seconds before we started shooting. You know–I always like to keep things real with you.
So, speaking of this outfit. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with my friend Juley of Upperlyne, but she used to be a previous food editor for The Everygirl, thus how we became friends. Despite the fact that food was her designated area of expertise, I secretly wanted to emulate her whole wardrobe, as she’s one of the chicest people I’ve ever met and has the best “French girl” style. (You can read her tips about dressing French here.) Basically, I saw her wearing leather leggings and a navy sweater in this post, so then I was inspired to wear leather leggings and a navy sweater, obviously. (Army pants and flip flops!?) And I had to add a silk scarf because, hello. Have you met me? (P.S. check out my roundup of 9 favorite silk scarves for any budget here.)
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
