Four Easy Ways to Style a Linen Jumpsuit

May 13, 2020

Hi friends!

WHEW it’s been a day! I’ve been on back to back calls this morning and afternoon, so I’m QUITE late in getting this post up! (Thanks for your patience. ????)

We’ve got two parts to today’s (tonight’s?) post. The first is a little styling session (the blog post version of the try-on I did on IG stories yesterday, along with my friends Karla, Natalie, and Brandi–who all styled their own jumpsuits different ways!)

For this post I’m featuring the cheery linen jumpsuit I’ve been living in lately! (With ideas on how to wear it now AND later!) It happens to be from Everlane, as is basically my whole wardrobe these days! (Note: This post is not sponsored, although, for the sake of disclosure, they are a regular sponsor!)

That also brings us to part two–Everlane launched a Choose What You Pay sale today on some of their awesome basics. No new items are part of the sale (so this jumpsuit isn’t discounted) BUT many of their other mainstays are! These are all great basics, most of which you’ll want to wear this summer, quarantine or not!

We’ll get into my sale picks in a sec, but first, let’s style this jumpsuit!

Four Easy Ways to Style a Linen Jumpsuit

A quick recap of why I love this jumpsuit so much!

  • It covers your bra straps! No strapless bra needed.
  • It has a stretchy back, so it slips down easy for quick bathroom trips. ????
  • It’s SO COMFORTABLE. Feels like pajamas.
  • The belt is removable, so you can style it so many ways!
  • Runs true to size, comes in other colors too! I’m wearing a size 0.
  • Easy to dress up or dress down!

Also, for reference, for my newcomers (welcome!!) I’m 5’6 and typically a size xs/s or 0/2 depending on the item.

Outfit#1: With a layered tee

Striped tee (runs TTS! Wearing small!), Jumpsuit (TTS, wearing 0!) Nisolo Huarache sandals (I ordered my normal size! These are a REAL treat to break in–I shared tips on how I did that here–but they’re WELL worth it!), Vintage hair scarf–see how I tie my hair scarves in my “how to tie a hair scarf” post!

I’m always a big proponent of layering UNDER a jumpsuit, because A. I like the faux overall look, and B. You don’t have to take them off to go to the bathroom! Let’s be honest, that’s the #1 pain point of jumpsuits, right!? Luckily, not with this one! It slides down SUPER easily thanks to the stretchy part in the back!

Tip: Go for a patterned tee, like a stripe, to add more visual interest!

Also, I am IN LOVE with my Nisolo Huarache sandals, however, be warned they were by far THE WORST shoe I’ve ever broken in. But they’re so worth it! I wrote about my shoe break-in tips as part of my Barcelona Packing post! I wore almost no other shoe our entire Spain trip!

Outfit #2: With a boyfriend blazer!

Jumpsuit (TTS, wearing 0!) sandals (30% off! Run TTS) Cotton-linen blazer (color is bone, size 0! Runs TTS, but oversized fit, if that makes sense!) Old earrings.

This might be my favorite look of the bunch, because it reminds me of what I’d wear to meet my girlfriends for cocktails at a bar. ????In all honesty though, we’ll be able to see our friends at SOME point this summer–even if it’s a socially distanced happy hour–so this is definitely what I will plan to wear! I adore this blazer it’s so versatile, and I can’t wait to wear it with shorts!

Tip: Instead of tying the belt in a bow in the front (it would look too bulky with the jacket) I double wrapped it to create more of a “twisted” belt look–and I loved the effect! Always play around with things–you end up inventing completely new combinations!

Outfit #3: With a chambray button-down

Jumpsuit (TTS, wearing 0!), similar chambray button-down, Tretorn sneakers (run TTS!)

I love using a chambray button-down as an outer layer, in lieu of a jean jacket! It’s more comfortable (I.E. more conducive to wearing indoors…because who is wearing a jacket in quarantine? ????) You can’t tell here but I actually didn’t button it–so you can see the jumpsuit peeking through up top! A perfect outfit to wear with classic sneakers

Outfit #4: Dress it up!

Jumpsuit (TTS, wearing 0!), Shoes (and similar–best selection I’ve found is at Zappos!) Natalie Borton earrings (sold out but get on her email list for her next drop! They pretty much sell out to those exclusively on her list every time!) Lipstick in “BC Red.”

Neal and I still like to keep our date night tradition alive, so every Friday or Saturday night, we typically get dressed like we would to go on a normal date! (But, you know, perhaps more comfortable variations!) This is how I’ve been wearing this jumpsuit a lot–dressing it up with SUPER comfy heels. (Honestly, I think these are going to be the only heels I wear in life.) They’re so soft on your feet and the bows just make me SO happy!)

…and that’s all for today’s looks! I hope you got some new ideas for how to style ANY jumpsuit in your closet!

Everlane Choose What you Pay Sale

Now, let’s move on to some of my picks from the Choose What you Pay Sale! My guess is that a lot of these items are going to go really fast, so definitely snap them up while you can! I tried to choose items that were still mostly in stock at the time of pulling them–here are a couple select favorites!

Box Cut Pocket Tee

I wear these tees a lot and they’re such great crewnecks! Slightly cropped and perfect for front-tucking! So soft, and the white isn’t see-through!

Long Sleeve Box Cut Pocket Tee

I also love this classic tee in the long-sleeved version!

Collarless Air Tee

I have the first iteration of this top, which is PERFECT for summer because it’s so insanely lightweight! It’s basically like wearing nothing. (Hence the name!) Reading recent reviews, it sounds like this one might be a little boxier, so definitely search the reviews by your body type to find the best fit!

Wide Leg Chino

I LOVE my wide leg chinos! I have them in the navy color and they’re the perfect summer version of their classic wide-leg crops! They run TTS!

Japanese GoWeave Wrap Dress

I have this dress in color (which they don’t make anymore!) but it’s a GREAT basic to have. The fabric and the cut make it super versatile. The material is wrinkle-resistant and very durable!

Clean Silk Camisole

I’ve had this cami for several years now (I own it in navy) and I wear it year-round, with everything. The perfect under-layer in the spring/winter and great all on its own in the summer. It’s definitely a timeless staple!

Clean Silk Tie Sleeve Top

I absolutely LOVE THIS TOP. I have it in both black and white. But now I want it in this beautiful pink color. ❤️The perfect all-occasion feminine blouse!

Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans:

I haven’t tried these specific skinnies (I have the authentic stretch version!) but they have great reviews AND come in white! (Being that it’s white jean season! ????????)

High Rise Authentic Stretch Skinny Jeans

I reviewed these in my Everlane Denim Post, so if you have questions about them–definitely head over there, but I am a big fan of these as far as skinnies go–they are so flattering!

Day Flats

Everyone RAVES about these flats (I don’t own them though!) and I don’t think they’ve EVER been part of a Choose What you Pay sale! So if you’ve been wanting to take the plunge, now you can snag ’em at a discount!

Trainers

I like to call these “THE most supportive shoe in my wardrobe” if that’s what you’re looking for. They’re a great “athleisure” shoe that also looks super cute with jeans, sneakers, whatever! I had one reader say she changed into them after running an ENTIRE marathon, walked more miles around the city in them, and she said they were supportive enough for her, yet still super cute!

Tank Bra

I’ve never actually tried this bra before, but all the recent reviews RAVE about it being “the best quarantine bra” sooo now I feel like maybe I need to give it a test run. ????

Hope you have a wonderful night!!
