16 Cute and Cozy Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

Nov 19, 2019

Happy Tuesday!

Guess what is just over a week away?! Thanksgiving! Are you guys ready?! I’m not sure where this fall season has gone! I’m looking forward to spending quality time with family, enjoying ALL the yummy food, and taking time to appreciate the holiday season before the real madness begins.

Need outfit ideas? Whether you’re traveling, staying in town, doing it up fancy, or snuggling in for a more casual feast, I rounded up outfit ideas that are both cute and comfortable — essential for post meal time! Without further ado, cozy Thanksgiving outfit inspiration!

16 Thanksgiving outfit ideas

Mustard Sweater & Corduroys with White Booties:

Mustard is one of my favorite fall colors! How festive is this mustard on mustard look from Everlane? I love this Oversized Alpaca Crew (runs big, I’m wearing an XS) and these Corduroy Straight Leg Crops (TTS) are so ’70s and modern at the same time! Bonus: they’re insanely warm. I paired this monochromatic look with Ecru Day Booties to lighten it up, and I love how they add a vintage nod to any look!

GET THE LOOK:

Sweater & Leather Leggings with Riding Boots:

This outfit follows one of my biggest pieces of fashion advice when searching for ideas: Mix multiple contrasting styles together–so, a feminine sweater with a bit more edgy leather leggings, and classic riding boots (similar here and here!)

This tie sleeve sweater is several years old but this Free People tunic sweater is similar and all my friends that have it RAVE about it! You can also get a similar look with my fave Dudley Stephens Cobble Hill fleece tunic! (Go a size up in that one if you’re in between, I wear a small!)

GET THE LOOK:

Sweater & Barbour Vest & Plaid Scarf Combo:

This look is perfect for midday football or post-feast walks around the neighborhood. This Barbour Liner Vest is so classic, and I love how it looks over this sweater (sold out, similar look here). I paired it with my favorite Everlane denim and Chelsea boots (old, love this similar pair from Everlane!)

GET THE LOOK:

Plaid Poncho, Turtleneck, Skinny Jeans & Ankle Boots:

Is there a more perfect occasion to wear a cape or poncho than Thanksgiving?! I love this plaid cape scarf and this rainbow plaid option! I never tire of pairing plaid and stripes together. Also, I think it always results in a really fun, interesting combination. Style with a pair of flattering, high-waisted skinny jeans, and some classic booties (mine are old, love this similar pair!)

GET THE LOOK:

Turtleneck, Wide Leg Crops & Sock Booties:

I had to include an outfit featuring this Dudley Stephens Park Slope Turtleneck as it’s the coziest, warmest piece. These colors look so sophisticated and festive together, and the headband (similar) adds a fun flair! I love the way sock booties look with my favorite wide leg crops – it’s a great combo to play with proportions!

GET THE LOOK:

Comfy T-Shirt Dress and Ankle Boots:

This dress is SO flattering and so comfy AND comes in a bunch of colors! There is also a sleeveless version which is great for layering as well. Wear it with a plaid scarf and some cute booties (these are old, but here is the newer version!) Dress sizing tip: go up a size if you want it to be looser (like it is here, I’m wearing a small)–stay true to size if you’d like it to be more form fitting.

GET THE LOOK:

All Black with a Pop of Leopard:

You can’t go wrong in an all-black look with a pop of leopard! Bonus points for ponte pants! Like a thicker, sturdier, dressier legging–ponte pants are totally appropriate for a Thanksgiving look and are still comfortable. This chunky black turtleneck sweater is old from Everlane but this Topshop version (on sale!) is similar and also super cute! If you want something a bit more form-fitting, I would highly recommend Everlane’s Cashmere Turtleneck! I also chose to pair this all-black ensemble with my favorite leopard loafers for a pop of pattern, but if it’s too cold to wear loafers, you can totally wear this with boots (I just got these leopard J.Crew booties and I have worn them SO much! Or for a more budget-friendly option, these leopard booties are on sale!

Cashmere Wrap with a Suede Mini & OTK Boots:

A suede, leather, or corduroy skirt are all great ways to add some festive texture to your look. I love this suede miniskirt (old, similar here) paired with OTK boots (more affordable option here). And I kept it cozy and casual on top with a striped long-sleeved top and a cashmere wrap (similar). I love that these colors are all pretty neutral, which makes the textures really pop!

GET THE LOOK:

Striped Turtleneck with a Chunky Cardigan + Booties:

Could this look be any cozier?! I love the texture and slouchy fit of this Chicwish Cardigan (TTS) and how it elevates the classic combo of a J.Crew Tissue Turtleneck, Everlane Cheeky Straight Jeans and Day Boots. (TTS)

GET THE LOOK:

Lace Cami + a Cardigan with Leather Leggings:

Evereve look

I took this “grandpa-style” sweater (old, love this one!) and juxtaposed it with a little big of femininity and edge with this lace cami (love this new version!) and faux leather leggings with pebble texture. I love how they all work together! My exact Blondo booties are sold out (similar pairs here and here!)

GET THE LOOK:

Cowl Neck Leather Skirt and OTK Boots:

I love the comfort to dressy ratio of this look! The cowl-neck top is so cozy (this similar version converts to an over-the-shoulder sweater too! and here and here), and I love how it dresses down a faux leather miniskirt (similar here). I paired it with my Stuart Weitzman Lowland Boots,(I know these aren’t in the budget for everyone- more affordable option here!)

GET THE LOOK:

Cardigan + Plaid Flannel with Corduroy Skirt & Suede Booties:

I love how the rich colors and textures make this look so festive for the fall season!  I adore this Leith longline cardigan (comes in 4 colors!) because the knit isn’t too heavy or hot, so it makes an ideal transitional piece that makes every outfit look so much more intentional and chic! Sizing: Runs a little big, go a size down if you’re in between. Pair it with a plaid flannel (comes in 8 beautiful colorways!), a corduroy skirt and suede booties (similar here and here)!

Cardigan Layered Over Plaid + Faux Leather Leggings & Loafers:

Another way to rock this plaid flannel and longline cardigan? Add faux leather leggings (Size up if you’re in between sizes) and loafers! (Order a 1/2 size down). Check out these budget-friendly dupes, too! This look is the epitome of comfortable chic – perfect for a full day of Thanksgiving activities.

Faux Leather Leggings with a Plaid Scarf, OTK Boots + Beret:

Leather leggings

Style leather leggings in a classic, cozy way with a cashmere sweater (on sale!), a plaid scarf and chic beret! I love the way my OTK Blondo Boots tone down faux leather leggings and pull the look together. I added my Barbour Quilted Beadnell (runs TTS!) for extra warmth. Want more beret style ideas? Check out 4 Ways to wear a beret!

Cozy Cardigan with Denim, Booties & a Hair Scarf:

Chunky cardigans are perfect for thanksgiving style! I love them layered over a top or buttoned up with a pair of jeans like I did here! This Everlane Chunky Cardigan Sweater is so cozy (and TTS!)
