Casual Cozy with Barbour

Nov 26, 2014

Coat: Barbour (c/o) // Sweater: Barbour // Scarf: Barbour // Jeans: Forever 21 // Boots: Zara (these and these are similar and way cuter!) *Note all Barbour items are available in-store only, but you can order them over the phone by calling the store at (773) 360-7926*

As you can tell, Ashlei, Kelly and I are pretty excited.

Because we’re hosting a REALLY sweet event at Barbour in Lincoln Park next week as part of Lincoln Park’s Holiday Shop Hop on December 4th! There will be twenty local boutiques as well as restaurants along Halsted, Armitage, and Webster that open their doors for a night of festivities, food, music, and best of all, shopping! In each store will be a Chicago blogger or two (or three, in our case!) to help you pick out some amazing items for your Christmas list (or for yourself!).

At Barbour, we’ll be having gift tables for men and women (and fun goodies for your pup, too!) It’s rumored there MIGHT even be a tartan photo booth, so you definitely have to come check it out. We would love, love to see you there!

Here’s just a peek at what you can expect to find at Barbour: we’re talking the coziest sweaters you’ve ever seen, tartan everywhere, and the warmest coats to help you combat the crazy Chicago winter.

Before we teamed up with Barbour, I really didn’t know much about them, but came to learn about the great amount of history the brand has, and their unparalleled eye for detail.  And then I completely fell in love.

For example, did you know that back in the day, Barbour made suits for the Navy? And that the zipper of this coat doubles as a bottle opener? That it has special “warming pockets” which are lined with cozy fleece, and curve down at an angle, so your hands aren’t exposed to any cold air? Or the fact that this sweater has heavy-duty thumb holes that are lined with leather around the edges, so they never fray? The amount of detail that goes into every item is incredible, and something I wholeheartedly appreciate.

And yes, if you were wondering, that IS a mens sweater. I’m a sucker for shopping in the mens department. I gave some serious thought in asking Neal to go halfsies on it with me (yes it’s giant on me, but it would fit him! Right?) but then I knew in my heart that would be a poor bargain for him, he would never see it again!

And I’d like to talk about this tartan scarf for a second. The Barbour family has a special family tartan (yes, that is a thing in Scotland) that is unique and special to only them. It’s the same pattern they use on every tartan item they make (you’ll just notice that the size varies, but the pattern stays the same.) I couldn’t get enough of tartan everything, from their button downs, to the scarves in amazing winter colors, to the linings on the inside of their coats.

(P.S. be sure to click through to see Ashlei and Kelly’s cute outfits!)

Don’t forget to come see us at the Barbour store at 2042 N Halsted on December 4th! Here’s the rest of the amazing line up!
