Brightening Up a Rainy Day

Dec 9, 2016

red-hunter-boots-barbour-beadnell-outfit

Coat: Barbour Beadnell in Olive–available at both Tuckernuck and Nordstrom, comes in navy, black, and sage too. I also have the liner vest and just got the quilted Beadnell in black!! // Tote: Madewell Transport Tote (Available at Nordstrom and Madewell) also comes in a black and tan version–I love their Transport Satchel too! // Scarf: old, borrowed from Kelly, but similar here, and here // Red Hunter Boots (also available in the matte version, which I also love!) // Pants: SO OLD. Admittedly I ruined my other favorite white pair of Levi’s (wah!) so I was wearing my old white jeans here which are so baggy! I really need a new pair– I’ve also had my eye on this pair // Sweater: Nordstrom (on sale for $59!), also comes in black & white stripe, navy and white stripe, solid black, camel, navy, and grey! It’s so soft, but it does run a bit snug, so if you like it to be a little looser, size up.)

YOU GUYS!! Such exciting news!

As of this morning, I HAVE A NIECE!!!

After 3 boys, my sister finally got her girl 🙂 Baby Ashlynn (named after my mom, Lynn) was born this morning and everyone is doing great! I’m flying there on Tuesday to meet her and I couldn’t be more excited. I already bought a bunch of stuff from Baby Gap and placed another Amazon order this morning. (I would show you what I purchased but she might read this and then the surprise would be ruined! More on that later, I promise.) This auntie is getting out of control ;-P I’ll be sure to post pics when I get to Oregon next week. You have no idea how long this family has been waiting for a little girl!

In other (still exciting, yet not nearly as exciting as a new baby) news–it’s Friday! And it’s SNOWING! I’m sitting here drinking my coffee and admiring the fluffy snow whirling around outside–it’s so beautiful!

Admittedly, I meant to write this post last night but I was so tired when I got home from dinner, I went to bed instead, because #life. (SORRY. You don’t mind, right?)

Last night Kelly, Kira and I got together (it had been way too long. Well, since we’d seen Kira. I often see Kelly more than I see Neal some weeks :-P) and stopped by a new pop-up shop in Lincoln Park called “The Stock Room.” (See photo below!)

Neal’s cousin, Elizabeth, was part of the duo that created the out of the box art-meets-retail concept. If you live in the neighborhood, be sure to stop in this weekend! It’s open now through Sunday, and they have a lot of really unique items from local makers! I got the cutest print of a LaCroix can (it’s Pamplemousse flavor, duh.) I posted some sneak peaks on Instagram stories if you want to check them out!

MORE exciting news: We’re going to HAMILTON on Saturday!! Neal’s mom got us all tickets for Neal’s birthday last year, and the day has finally arrived! I started listening to the soundtrack on Spotify already and it’s so great! Have you been? Dying to know what you thought!

Anyway, the weather this week has been VERY cold and grey, so the Hunter boots came out several times over the past few days. I love my classic black ones, but there’s something very special about how the red ones can brighten up the gloomiest day! Admittedly, they’re a lot more fun to pull on than the black one’s and make your outfit SO much cuter! 😉 (Don’t you think?)

Hunter Favorites:

I will likely be wearing several iterations of this outfit during my trip to Oregon next week! I love that my Barbour coat has the option to snap in a liner vest for more warmth–it is officially needed now that winter has finally arrived! I also just got the black quilted Beadnell as well, which has a super cozy polar-fleece lining. I LOVE the quilted look and I can’t wait to wear it! Perhaps most exciting of all though…I finally got a Canada Goose!! It is SO. WARM. I really didn’t know if it was going to live up to the hype, but it really does. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever felt. Winter is going to be so much better this year! Full post on that coming soon 🙂

My Barbour Favorites:

Speaking of travel–this Madewell Tote is my go-to for airplane trips. It’s a beautiful bag, but it’s so functional too! Whenever I travel, it holds my laptop, makeup bag, magazines and purse. (Purse because of that “one personal item, one carry-on” airline rule. Eye roll.)

This funnel neck sweater is also one of my new favorites. It’s SO soft, warm, and I love the camel and red stripe combination. (Stripes? Who, me?!) Plus, it’s a turtleneck, and you know how much I love THOSE. It’s on sale right now and comes in a ton of different colors, too! (Which is another plus. YAY!)
