Where to Shop in Wicker Park

Oct 18, 2016

Shoes: c/o indigo rd (available at Francesca’s!) I also own these booties and these booties by them// Slip tank: Nordstrom (Only $30!) It has the prettiest back, too! I also love this ruffled version and this version–it’s the perfect layer, which makes it great year-round! // Jeans: Levi’s 711 Skinny Jeans–I wear them non-stop, and they’re so budget friendly! I’ve also had my eyes on this budget-friendly pair as well. (Size tip: they run true to size, but note, they’ll stretch a bit with wear!) // Camo Jacket: old, but this one is identical! Also, if you’re not into camo, I love this olive military jacket!

It’s no secret that there’s a ton of great shopping in Chicago. Everyone knows that–right?

Well, when it comes to WHERE the best shopping in the Windy City is–that seems to be where the secret part comes in. When you think “shopping”–you always think “Michigan Avenue” and “Magnificent Mile”–but my personal preference is to go the small shop route and get off the beaten touristy path. Get out of downtown, and into the local neighborhoods. Even before I moved here, Wicker Park has always been my go-to shopping neighborhood. Here you’ll find an eclectic mix of shops that will please literally everyone!

Today, I’m excited to partner with an awesome budget-friendly shoe brand, indigo rd (they make these adorable lace-up heels that I’m wearing here!) to bring you a three-part series over the next several days, of where I love to Shop, Eat and Play in Chicago!

First up–shopping, obviously. (Because isn’t that what you really care about?) If you’re making a trip to the windy city, or if you’re a local looking to broaden your shopping horizons, make sure to put these spots on your list!

Eskell

A long-time favorite of mine, Eskell was actually founded by two IU grads. (Go Hoosiers!) They sell some of the most unique and feminine clothes, which also includes their own namesake label “Eskell,” some beautiful dainty jewelry, and a small collection of housewares.

Journelle

Never buy lingerie anywhere else again. While Journelle sells high-end labels, their namesake “Journelle” brand has the prettiest bras, undies, and nighties for really great prices. They also have bottled water, chocolates, and cozy robes in each dressing room!

Vintage Charm

Contrary to what the name suggests, nothing in Vintage Charm is actually vintage. It’s actually more Anthropologie meets local boutique. They have lot’s of cute clothes, accessories, and gifts, and the girls that work there are always so nice and friendly!

Una Mae’s

Part vintage, part new, Una Mae’s has such a cool selection of clothing and accessories for girls and guys. It’s a great spot to go for gifts, or just to browse when you’re bored. I always find something in here!

Volumes Books

Volumes is my favorite local bookstore, just down the street from our place. I love going here to pick up a new book or get some work done. Even better? They sell wine. There’s nothing more relaxing than curling up here with a book and some vino!

Velvet Goldmine

Neal and I pop into Velvet Goldmine every couple of weeks, and where we scored a lot of the furniture for his office. They have a ton of fantastic, one of a kind midcentury modern pieces and some of the best prices I’ve seen in the city. If you love furniture, definitely check it out, and tell the owners, Jon and Kurt we say hello!

Vintage Underground

Speaking of vintage, if you love vintage jewelry, you’ll be in heaven in Vintage Underground! Costume jewelry is their speciality, but they have a really great selection of clothing as well. It’s always fun to stop in and browse.

Francesca’s

Last but not least–I’ve been a huge fan of Francesca’s ever since I moved to Chicago more than 6 years ago! They have locations all over the city, but my favorites are in Bucktown and Lincoln Park. They’ve got a great selection of clothing, accessories, shoes (I have these, and these–which you’ll be seeing in another post soon!) and more. Every time I pop in, I find something new! I love going there when shopping for gifts as well–they have an incredible selection of candles and great, affordable jewelry that is always a hit!

Usually I pop into all of the above on my way to and from a coffee shop during the day, or on my way to meet friends for dinner in the evening! Speaking of, I’ve been wearing this outfit combination on repeat lately.

I love these indigo rd sandals for fall. The combination of their pretty brown color and suede makes them the perfect transitional shoes. (Why did it take me so long to own a pair?) They totally make any outfit–like this simple combo of my Levi’s jeans (they look so cute rolled at the ankle with these heels) and this slip tank (only $30!), which has become a staple of mine ever since I picked it up a few weeks ago–it looks great on it’s own, or layered under a jacket when the nights get chillier. It’s one of those pieces that can be dressed up or down easily, so it’s awesome for travel too!
