Hii guys!
Okay, I’m publishing Friday’s post a little early, because I’ve already gotten a couple of DM’s about NYE outfit ideas today, and I figured, why not? Can you believe 2019 is so close!? EEK!
It’s that time when we all start thinking “oh gosh, what on EARTH am I going to wear on New Years Eve?!”
Let’s be honest, sparkly sequined dresses are SO FAR from where I am in my life, I wasn’t even going to do a post on NYE outfits–but last year, I asked you guys about it on Insta and everyone basically jumped through the phone, yelling– “I AM SO OVER THE SPARKLY DRESSES AND WRISTBAND DEALS BUT WHAT DOES 30 YEAR OLD WEAR TO A NYE HOUSE PARTY!?”
(We are all SO on the same page–it’s amazing ?)
That post went on to be so popular last year, I had to refresh it with some new *ring in 2019* outfits–and here we are!
So, that being said, you will find no glitter mini skirts or gold sequined hot pants in this post (although, I really did once own a pair of those when I was 23!)
These are all outfits you can wear to any casual get-together–be it at your own house, a bar, hanging with family–whatever! I pulled together these ideas from my own closet, and I hope they make getting dressed on NYE a little easier! (Also, if you DO want to order something, you know, there’s still time for it to arrive by the 31’st ?And in some cases, even Christmas, for that matter!)
Also…help me pick one to wear to dinner on New Years?! Would love your opinion!
Here we go!
Casual [Non Sparkly] Outfit Ideas For New Years Eve:
Black tunic sweater with faux leather leggings and OTK boots:
Item details:
Top: Nordstrom thermal tunic (runs TTS, wearing xs)
Leggings: Spanx pebbled leather leggings–shop more Spanx styles here!
Boots: Blondo (mine are old, but this pair is this year’s version, and this pair is very similar, just shorter)–these boots are amazing because they’re waterproof AND the back is stretchy, so it adjusts to all calf sizes (especially narrow ones–these are the only boots that fit my calves other than Stuart Weitzman!)
Earrings: old but these are nearly identical, and I love these, and these!
Lipstick: Beautycounter’s color intense lipstick in ‘Premiere’ (only available in this mini lipstick set, but they also sell full sized lipsticks in other colors! (My favorite full sized colors are ‘9-5’ and ‘Twilight!’ They also don’t dry out your lips like other high pigment lipsticks do!)
About the outfit:
Going to a small get-together at your best friends house? Whether it’s a pizza party or a potluck, or you’re just meeting up with some friends before dinner–this is a great outfit to throw on. It’s comfortable, but still very stylish. The faux leather gives the outfit a little something extra, and paired with a statement earring, you’re festive but low-key at the same time!
Lace camisole with leopard midi skirt and pumps
Item details:
Camisole: Mine is old but nearly identical here and here–this velvet top with the bows on the straps would also be SO cute! (CamiNYC also makes the most beautiful tanks–they’re a little more expensive but high quality!)
Sam Edelman Pumps: Run TTS–Best all-purpose heels EVER. I’ve had mine for years!
J.Crew leopard midi skirt: I’m in LOVE. I need more midi skirts in my life. I forgot how beautiful and feminine they make you feel! So cute for so many different occasions and something you’ll want to wear all year round! Runs true to size, wearing a size 0. Available at both Nordstrom and J.Crew!
Sam Edelman Pumps: Run TTS–Best all-purpose heels EVER. I’ve had mine for years!
Earrings: Old, but similar here and here!
I am absolutely in love with this skirt–despite making a statement, it’s actually quite versatile due to the length! It looks cute with sweaters, a nicer blouse to dress up for work, but perhaps my favorite way to wear it is with a slinky, lacy camisole! This is the dressiest look of the bunch, but it’s still not what I’d call “formal”–if you’re going to a cocktail party at your best friend’s house–this is the perfect thing to wear! Festive, but not over the top!
+ Put a twist on it with a moto jacket!
Item details:
BlankNYC moto jacket: I LOVE this jacket. It seriously feels like a $500+ jacket and it’s only $125 (33% off right now!) Runs TTS. This one is also very similar!
Camisole: Mine is old but nearly identical here and here–this velvet top with the bows on the straps would also be SO cute!
Same outfit as above, but doesn’t it look COMPLETELY different with a burgundy moto jacket thrown into the mix? It takes it from girly and feminine and transforms it into something with a bit of edge that feels much more fashion forward, but also makes it a bit more casual. If you’re getting dressed for a party where you don’t know that many people and aren’t sure what to wear, this is a great option. You won’t feel overdressed, but if you arrive and people are fancier, you can just remove the jacket and feel much more party-proper.
Plaid velvet tank with skinny jeans + a leather jacket:
Item details:
Plaid velvet tank: Runs TTS–so cute dressed up or down! Also available at J.Crew!
Leather jacket: Old, but similar here!
Rag + Bone skinny jeans: 33% off! I absolutely adore these jeans. They are FABULOUS. So soft, so stretchy, and high rise but not TOO high. I love the subtle raw hem that isn’t TOO edgy, but a nice mix up from the average hem. I’m 5’6 for height reference and I would say if you’re in doubt, size down. They run big.
Sam Edelman Pumps: Run TTS–Best all-purpose heels EVER. I’ve had mine for years!
I love this velvet tank because, again, it feels very festive for the season, but not so over the top that you feel odd wearing it after Christmas. You could, of course, wear it without the jacket (it always gets so hot in parties anyway!) but I like the jacket paired with it for a bit of a twist!
Bodysuit with plaid skirt and OTK boots:
Item details:
Wrap bodysuit: The one I’m wearing here is Madewell (on sale for 25% off!), size small, but it’s selling out, so I would check out J.Crew’s identical version (also on sale!) if you don’t see your size! If you can’t find your size! It’s really versatile and so many people have DMed me thanking me for turning them onto the wrap bodysuit! It’s the perfect balance of sexy without being freezing ? Also, if wrap bodysuits aren’t your thing, this pretty long-sleeve wrap top is the same effect, just not as tight!
Plaid mini skirt: $52 I love how this skirt isn’t TOO short, and it’s festive plaid, but not so festive that you won’t want to wear it past Christmas (thanks to the hint of blue in it!) You can totally wear it with tights or OTK boots! Runs TTS, I’m wearing an XS. Also comes in plus size!
Earrings: Old, but similar here and here!
I absolutely ADORE this skirt. It definitely has a little bit of a Blair Waldorf vibe, but with the addition of the bodysuit, it keeps it from being too “preppy schoolgirl”–don’t you think? You could easily make it dressier with tights and pumps, but to keep things low-key (this is a “casual” NYE outfit roundup after all), I paired it with flat OTK boots.
Lace camisole with skinny jeans + pumps:
Item details:
Camisole: Mine is old but nearly identical here and here–this velvet top with the bows on the straps would also be SO cute!
Rag + Bone skinny jeans: 33% off–$132– I absolutely adore these jeans. They are FABULOUS. So soft, so stretchy, and high rise but not TOO high. I love the subtle raw hem that isn’t TOO edgy, but a nice mix up from the average hem. I’m 5’6 for height reference and I would say if you’re in doubt, size down. They run big!
Sam Edelman Pumps: Run TTS–Best all-purpose heels EVER. I’ve had mine for years!
Whenever Neal and I go out on a dressed-up date, 99% of the time, I’m wearing this EXACT outfit. I think every woman on the planet needs to own a slinky, silk camisole. It’s sexy, demure, and feminine all at the same time. I always wear it with skinny jeans, and always classic pumps. It never fails me, and I always feel like a million bucks in it!
Bodysuit with a coated denim mini, cozy cardigan and OTK boots:
Item details:
Wrap bodysuit:The one I’m wearing here is Madewell (on sale for 25% off!), size small, but it’s selling out, so I would check out J.Crew’s identical version (also on sale!) if you don’t see your size! If you can’t find your size! It’s really versatile and so many people have DMed me thanking me for turning them onto the wrap bodysuit! It’s the perfect balance of sexy without being freezing ?
BlankNYC skirt available here, and here too! (FYI–Shopbop has lot’s of good BlankNYC stuff and 2 day Prime shipping!)
Cardigan: I am OBSESSED with this cardigan. It’s so cute left open or completely buttoned down the front with a lacy camisole underneath–and so comfy and soft!
Blondo Boots (mine are old, but this pair is this year’s version, and this pair is very similar, just shorter)–these boots are amazing because they’re waterproof AND the back is stretchy, so it adjusts to all calf sizes (especially narrow ones–these are the only boots that fit my calves other than Stuart Weitzman!)
Earrings: Old, but similar here and here! Baublebar makes the best statement earrings if you want more!
I love this outfit so much because it’s a bit of an unexpected pairing, but it works so well! It’s a little bit dressy, but still casual–a little bit sexy, but a lot cozy. Don’t be afraid to pair a cardigan with a skirt or dress–it totally works to bring an outfit down a couple notches to make it a bit low-key!
Bodysuit with skinny jeans and pumps:

If you can’t find your size! It’s really versatile and so many people have DMed me thanking me for turning them onto the wrap bodysuit! It’s the perfect balance of sexy without being freezing ?
Earrings: Old, but similar here and here!
About the outfit:
The classic way I love to wear this bodysuit. Simple, but significant! It makes just enough (not too much) of a statement, and it’s the perfect outfit to wear out. If we’re being honest, this is an outfit you wear when you want to be warm, but you don’t want your husband to make fun of you for dressing like a grandma ?EVERYBODY WINS!

About the outfit:
Two of the same stunners you’ve already seen above, but married together in perfect harmony! There’s nothing to not love about this outfit! It’s a bit more casual than the version with the silk camisole, and a little bit warmer too!
Plaid velvet tank, coated denim mini, suede moto jacket, OTK boots:

Blondo Boots (mine are old, but this pair is this year’s version, and this pair is very similar, just shorter)–these boots are amazing because they’re waterproof AND the back is stretchy, so it adjusts to all calf sizes. Run TTS!

About this outfit:
I had honestly never thought about putting this combination together before I just started trying on different variations of outfits–this ended up being my favorite outfit of them all! I think this is the best “goldilocks” outfit. You want to look cute, but casual. Not TOO casual, but definitely not dressy. Fashionable, but not overly trendy. Feminine, but not “girly girl,” and festive, but not over the top. This is it! I also love how all the textures work together–you have the velvet of the top, the suede of the jacket and boots, the leather look of the skirt. They all work together to create a really interesting outfit!
